Willow (Salix
alba)
Willow bark contains salicin, a substance similar to
aspirin. Aspirin should not be given to children receiving live influenza virus due to the
possible link to Reye's syndrome. The same adverse interaction result could theoretically
happen if children were to take a willow-containing product following FluMist®.
